Teacher resources

**New curriculum changes:**

In light of the recent changes to the KS1 and KS2 national curriculum, we have updated our education resource pack. This now includes activities suitable for both KS1 and KS2 along with detailed information that will tie in with History, Music, Geography and Art.    At the Beatles Story, we want you and your pupils to enjoy getting to know all about The Beatles, their rise to fame and what society was like in post war Britain.   Liverpool has a rich cultural heritage and has played a huge part in history throughout the years, constantly evolving as times change. We aim to give pupils the opportunity to explore, learn and appreciate Liverpool’s rich heritage through access to our unique exhibition and our spectacular location within the Albert Dock, a UNESCO World Heritage site including:
  • A chronological journey through history from when The Beatles were born right through to their break up in 1970 and beyond, exploring their solo careers.
  • Detailed education resources for KS1 and KS2 for History, Music, Geography and Art.
  • An interactive Discovery Zone where pupils will be inspired through hands on activities led by our team of specialist staff, all DBS checked.
  • A special exhibition with further education resources available.
  • Location across two sites, giving teachers the opportunity to explore the Albert Dock using our River Walk map and use the walk between the sites to link in with the geography and history syllabus.
  • A 4D cinema experience which will excite children’s senses and add a fun aspect into their day out
  • Comprehensive risk assessments, public liability insurance and child protection policies.

**New Resources**

We are pleased to share with you our new resource for Key Stage 1 groups. In light of the changes to the curriculum that came into force in September 2014, we have worked with Emmaus Primary School and have developed a 5 day scheme of work based on the Yellow Submarine that covers History, Literacy, Art and ICT.

This is a great tool for teachers to use in school as part of a chronological look at British History, changes to national life that are still within living memory and looking at historical events, people and places in their own locality – perfect for a local History study!

You can combine this great resource with a visit to the Beatles Story. We cater for KS1 & 2 groups, have up to date risk assessments and hold the Quality Badge from Learning Outside the Classroom.

The British Invasion – comprehensive new classroom resources!

Curated by The Grammy’s Museum in Los Angeles, our Special Exhibition explores the impact that the Beatles had on America in 1963. Our new resources will help teachers to look at Britain during this time as well as America and to understand the social changes in one of the most turbulent times in American history and its impact on the UK. These resources will take your students on a journey through Beatlemania and beyond, looking at the effect of the media on both sides of the Atlantic, how The Beatles music changed radically after their tour of America and what was happening in American society during the 60s and the impact this had on the UK.

This is an exciting opportunity for teachers to explore the Civil Rights Movement, the tragedy surrounding JFK, Beatlemania and the iconic Sgt Pepper album and much more. These resources use a variety of learning techniques and incorporate lots of ICT skills and research. This is a perfect way to introduce KS3 & KS4 students to The Beatles and their studio careers – the turning point in their musical careers.

New Geography Resource: Suitable for KS2 but could be adapted for older learners

The Beatles travelled Here, There and Everywhere. Our Geography resource looks at the places The Beatles visited, its place on the map and the demographic of that country. This is a great starting point for students to look at different countries and understand different cultures.
