The first 50th anniversary of The Beatles' invasion on the USA has landed

Today, 10th January 2014, marks the 50th anniversary of the release of The Beatles' first album in the USA, Introducing... The Beatles.

Shortly after the release of Introducing... The Beatles, the album spent nine weeks at the number two spot in the Billboard charts, only being held off the top spot by Meet The Beatles! which was released just 10 days later. The album, which is on display in our exhibition, continued to be produced until 15 October 1964 by which time it had sold approximately 1,300,000 mono copies and 41,000 stereo copies.

The 50th anniversary of the release of Introducing... The Beatles marks the first major event in our anniversary calendar for 2014, the year that celebrates the 50th anniversary celebrations of The Beatles' invasion on the USA.

Throughout the year both the city of Liverpool and The Beatles Story have a huge amount planned to celebrate the events that changed the USA's culture forever.
