Liverpool’s award-winning attraction, The Beatles Story, has teamed up with KnifeSavers, a non-for-profit UK-wide programme that empowers people to deal with bleeding caused by knife injuries.
The leading city attraction has introduced two stations with life-saving bleed kits across their sites at The Royal Albert Dock and the Mersey Ferries building at the Pier Head and engaged in training for their team in how to control major bleeding to reduce lives lost by knives.
KnifeSavers was founded by trauma doctors at the Major Trauma Centre at Aintree University Hospital in Liverpool. They want everyone to be able to stop bleeding after a knife attack and run an education programme along with a step-by-step app explaining how to use the bleed control kits.
In an emergency a local station can become a point of support and help that could make all the difference with every component of the kit designed with first-hand knowledge of the medical care required to treat the traumatic injuries sustained following a knife wound.
Nikhil Misra, Consultant General and Trauma Surgeon and KnifeSavers founder, said: “We are proud and humbled to be working with the team at Liverpool’s iconic Beatles Story to make the city a safer and more aware place. The KnifeSavers campaign originated from Liverpool and is aiming to make a difference nationally, and so to be collaborating with an institution representing four lads from Liverpool who changed the world is huge for us. We hope our shared values of wanting to make a positive change in our city and beyond with a little help from our friends will continue to make a difference”.
Mary Chadwick, General Manager at The Beatles Story, said: “By supporting this vital cause, we’re ensuring that we have the tools and training to react effectively, should the need ever arise. Our goal is to raise awareness and empower our team to respond swiftly in emergencies. Every second counts, and together, we can make a real difference in saving lives.”
